Just a quick update

Hi there!

I just wanted to say that this blog will be a little quiet for some time because I'm doing a further training beside my regular job. So there won't be much time for many other things including blogging, but hopefully this will be over by the end of april.

A load of vintage

As I mentioned in the last post here are the promised photos from the vintage clothes I bought last week.

This beige crimplene dress will look great in the spring with my blue coat!
I love the collar on this green number.
This frock is handsewn and has a belt on the back.
A sweet blue cotton blouse with a bow.
This green wool dress is for a cousin of mine who fits in it perfectly. It's too small for me :(
I just love the orange buttons on this one.

On friday I visited our local secondhand shop which has very boring thing most of the time, but I found a few lovley things this time.
A straw handbag. Perfect for the summer!
 A blue 60ies handbag.

 A gorgeous vintage suitcase!

Two vintage nighties

There was also a blue 60ies wool coat with a very groovy collar amongst my finds, but when I came home I found quite a few holes in it  and there was no way that I could have saved it or made something else from it so i cut off the buttons and throw it away :(

Sunny side up

It's such a beautiful and sunny day today! After such a long period of grey and cloudy days it's a nice change for once.

On monday I found out that a lady, who lives very near, sells some old clothes from a house clearance so I gave her a call and yesterday I drove to her place to look at them.  So much vintage goodies! I came home with 7 pieces which I'm going to show you soon.

Today i was wearing one of my latest vintage additions. It's a red/brown/beige dress with a zip in the front.

My fringe behaves really well for once:)

Have a nice day!

Going out

Yesterday my boyfriend and I went out to have dinner in a fancy restaurant. A few weeks ago we had our 7th anniversary. Time does fly! It was a very lovely evening and the food was very good. I was wearing a purple vintage minidress from the 60s, but I had to wear a skirt under it because it's too short for me. When you're 5,8 feet tall dressing in vintage isn't easy sometimes, but I used to had the same problems in high street stores.

I also have a new sewing project. A lovely dress in brown knit fabric. Here's a picture:
The scarf and the belt are matching perfectly with the dress, don't you think?

New Sewing Magazines

I love sewing magazines from the 60s and 70s! I probably get a couple of magazines every couple of months. Last week I got three new ones, a swiss magazine from 1970 and two german magazines from 1971.

This is the swiss magazine which is called "Meyers Modeblatt" and it has some gorgeous dresses in it.

This magazine is called "Neue Mode". The pale blue suit looks lovely for the spring.

I hope you like the pictures!

Purple Paisley

It's been a little while since the last post, but i just had so much work in november and december. Every year I'm really glad when the christmas holidays are over because for me they only mean work. Don't get me wrong, I really like my work but I don't like stressful times very much.

I had a little time to sew and finished the purple paisley dress I mentioned in my last post. Purple always makes me think of the late 60ies. Hopefully I can sew the matching pinafore from purple velvet next.

Finally I've got a record player! I was looking quite some time for one and just two weeks ago I told my dad and he got me the old record player from my grandfather. Sometimes you're just lucky :)

You can't always get what you want

Three weeks ago I went to the hairdresser to finally get the fringe I've wanted for so long. I took some photos with me and told her exactly what i wanted, a long Jane Birkin-like fringe. Long story short I ended with something like that (The picture is from a german Burda Magazine):
I was devastated because it looked so ugly. Finally my hair has grown a little and it looks quite good now and I can show you some photos of the outfit I wore today for a family party.

The dress is a 60ies vintage dress i bought in graz while we were on holiday and the jacket isn't vintage but rather secondhand.

I'm currently sewing a dress from a 1969 Burda pattern in a purple paisly fabric.
That's the dress in the Burda Magazine:
It looks very cute and I plan to make a velvet pinafore to match. Aren't pinafores just great? I think the give you an instant 60ies/70ies vibe!

Did you ever had a bad hairdresser experience ?
