You can't always get what you want

Three weeks ago I went to the hairdresser to finally get the fringe I've wanted for so long. I took some photos with me and told her exactly what i wanted, a long Jane Birkin-like fringe. Long story short I ended with something like that (The picture is from a german Burda Magazine):
I was devastated because it looked so ugly. Finally my hair has grown a little and it looks quite good now and I can show you some photos of the outfit I wore today for a family party.

The dress is a 60ies vintage dress i bought in graz while we were on holiday and the jacket isn't vintage but rather secondhand.

I'm currently sewing a dress from a 1969 Burda pattern in a purple paisly fabric.
That's the dress in the Burda Magazine:
It looks very cute and I plan to make a velvet pinafore to match. Aren't pinafores just great? I think the give you an instant 60ies/70ies vibe!

Did you ever had a bad hairdresser experience ?

Velvet pinafore and some sweet treats

It's almost a month since my last post, but I had soo much work and I often worked overtime. I work as a confectioner in a small business. Here a some photos of things I've made over the years.

But i've also made a pinafore from brown velvet from a Burda pattern from 1971. Originally the pattern was for a vest, but i've made a dress (or pinafore) from it.

This is the original pattern.

Sorry for the quality of the photos, but i thing my digital camera is dying! I hope you enjoy the photos anyway.

Some Vintage Treasures

It's been a while since the last post, but me and my boyfriend were on holiday. We also went to a few charityshops and I found two vintage dresses and some records.

This 60ies dress was one of the dresses I bought and i just love it! After the photos i realized i was standing in an ants nest...

I also finally got the opportunity of wearing one of my loveliest dresses. It's a long 70ies maxidress with very wide sleeves and i find it very suprising that it's long enough for me since i'm very tall.

I hope you had a great time while i was on holiday.

Pink and Purple Flowers

Hi everyone!

In the last couple of weeks I couldn't sew very much because it's so hot here. So today I show you a dress I made 2 months ago.

The dress is made from a very light 70ies cotton and the pattern is a Burda pattern from 1968. I decided against the collar and cuffs because I already have so many dresses with collars. The next dress from this pattern is already planned from a coral chiffon.

The original Burda dress:

I just love the sleeves!

Now, here are some pictures of me:

One could think I'm wearing white tights, but that's only my legs...

I hope you like the dress!

A 60ies pattern in a 70ies fabric

I've sewn this little dress a while ago, but yesterday I finally made pictures. The fabric is a gorgeous polyester knitt from the 70ies. I found it on Dawanda (you could say it's the german etsy), but unfortunately there was only 1 meter available. I picked a pattern from a german Burda from 1968 and made quite a few changes.

That's the original dress from Burda.

Here's a picture of the fabric. Isn't it lovely?
I really like this dress and most of all the buttons :)

Well, I hope you like it!

Orange Daisy Dress

This is my first time to show a dress that I've sewn myself on this blog. It's from a lovely light orange cotton with little Daisys on it. I used the Jackie O pattern from the Burdastyle Book "Sewing Vintage modern" and drafted the collar myself. The collar goes all the way back but I forgot to take a picture. Sadly the pictures didn't turn out to well, but I hope next time they will.

Actually the collar is identical but one side looks smaller on the photo.
